X-Ray Polarization Signatures of (Non-Jet) Black Hole Accretion Activity

A successful measurement of polarization in the X-ray emission from an accreting black hole provides us with valuable new information, e.g., helping to constrain the geometry of the system and breaking degeneracies in emission models. I will give an overview of the polarization signatures expected in the emission from the black hole accretion disk and corona as well as the reprocessing of this emission in nearby ambient matter such as a wind or molecular torus.
