Hard X-ray Imaging Polarimeters for PolariS

Hard X-ray imaging polarimeters are developed for the X-ray gamma-ray polaeimtery satellite PolariS. The imaging polarimter is scattering type, in which anisotropy in the direction of Compton scattering is employed to measure the hard X-ray (10-80 keV) polarization, and is installed on the focal planes of hard X-ray telescopes. We show the design and performance of the polarimeter with particular emphasis on the detection efficiency of the lower energy X-rays.
